Mazda will continue to offer the CX-70 midsize two-row SUV after dropping the name in the United States for the 2027 model year.
Americans will still have access to the CX-70 but it will now be called the CX-90 there.
The CX-70 was borne from the CX-90 when it launched a couple of years ago. It turned the three-row CX-90 into a roomy two-row SUV with some premium appointments. Over the U.S., as of 2027, the CX-90 will be available in two- and three-row configurations.
Here in Canada, we are keeping the two models separate, so if you want a roomy five-seater, then the CX-70 is for you, but if you need an extra row of seats, then you’ll want the CX-90.

What’s new on CX-70 in Canada?
Mazda has made a few updates for the vehicle.
The vehicle gets a revised rear suspension cross member to improve passenger comfort and composure over rough pavement, Mazda said.
The models with a plug-in hybrid powertrain get an updated electric drive motor, including more insulation material for a quieter low-speed experience.
A rear seat alert is becoming standard across the model range and Alexa Built-in is being added to two additional trims.
Furthermore, Mazda is giving the CX-70 two more colour options, Navy Blue Mica and Aero Grey Metallic.
Three powertrain choices
The CX-70 has three powertrain choices, two featuring mild-hybrid technology and a plug-in hybrid.
The base mild-hybrid powertrain consists of an e-Skyactiv G 3.3-litre turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine with 48-volt mild-hybrid support for improved efficiency. The system produces 280 hp and 332 lb.-ft. of torque.
The mild-hybrid GT-P and Signature models get a more powerful e-Skyactiv G 3.3-litre turbo engine. When using premium 91 octane fuel, it produces 340 hp and 369 lb.-ft. of torque, or 319 hp on 87 octane.
The PHEV powertrain pairs a 2.5-litre e-Skyactiv engine with a plug-in hybrid system 323 hp and 369 lb.-ft. of torque. The CX-70 PHEV can travel up to 51 kilometres on electric power alone.
