Four more vehicles have received the United States-based Insurance Institute for Highway Safety top safety awards for 2026.
The IIHS announced the new additions to its Top Safety Pick+ awards on Thursday, July 9.
The newly recognized models include:
- Audi A6
- BMW X1
- Mazda CX-5
- Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid
The IIHS said the Crosstrek Hybrid is rated separately from the non-hybrid Crosstrek because their structures and restraints are different.
With the addition of the four vehicles, the IIHS’s 2026 safety awards now recognize 68 vehicles, including 17 given the lower-tier Top Safety Pick award, and 51 given the upper-tier Top Safety Pick+ award.
