Mazda has upgraded the technological capabilities of its latest vehicle model.
The automaker announced Google Gemini is now available on the latest generation of the CX-5 compact SUV on models equipped with Google built-in.
The current generation of the CX-5 launched for the 2026 model year.
Mazda said the availability of Google Gemini will allow users to communicate with their vehicle using regular language rather than relying on specific voice commands. The system can understand context and followup requests, which allows it to do tasks more naturally.

Highlight features of Gemini
Mazda said Google Gemini is capable of helping drivers do some of the following:
- Seamlessly continue tasks, searches and conversations started on their smartphone through compatible Google services as they transition from phone to vehicle
- Find destinations, restaurants and points of interest through conversational requests and follow-up questions
- Use Google Maps for real-time traffic updates, route guidance and personalized recommendations along their journey
- Enjoy entertainment on demand through apps such as Spotify and YouTube Music, including playlist recommendations tailored to their mood or activity
- Send messages, share arrival times and manage communications hands-free using natural, conversational language
- Adjust supported vehicle functions, including climate settings, and access vehicle information using everyday speech
“Technology is at its best when it feels intuitive and fades into the background,” said Amy Fleming, president and CEO of Mazda Canada Inc., said in a news release. “With Google Gemini integrated into the all-new CX-5, customers can interact with their vehicle more intuitively, helping them access information, manage everyday tasks and stay focused on the drive ahead.”
