The Honda Passport TrailSport, the off-road version of the company’s Passport midsize SUV, is being updated a year after the current version launched.

Honda announced updates for the 2027 Passport TrailSport that should give it some serious off-road upgrades.

Honda is giving the TrailSport a lifted suspension, giving it a higher ground clearance and more off-road capability, new rugged elements and more features.

“For 2027, the Honda Passport TrailSport raises the bar again for capability, ruggedness, and adventure,” said Emile Korkor, assistant vice president, Honda Canada, in a news release. “Canadian drivers need an SUV that can handle more than one kind of life. From daily commutes to challenging trails and everything in between, the Passport TrailSport gives them the confidence, capability and versatility to get out there and enjoy it.”

Lifted suspension improves off-road capability

The lifted suspension is raising the ground clearance by 35 millimetres compared to the 2026 version to now clearing 245 millimetres.

Honda said the updated suspension didn’t just get new, taller springs. It received a redesigned suspension system to make sure handling and ride quality remained desirable while its off-road capability improved. Nearly 70 per cent of the suspension system’s major components were redesigned.

Thanks to these updates, including increased suspension articulation, the updated Passport TrailSport gets greater approach, departure and breakover angles.

The new angles include:

• Approach angle – 25 degrees (up 2)
• Departure angle – 25 degrees (up 2)
• Breakover angle – 23 degrees (up 3)

Honda said the steering feel and response have also been improved for a better daily drive.

TrailWatch camera now standard

Honda is fitting the TrailWatch camera system as standard on all versions of the TrailSport. It previously was only offered on the top-of-the-line TrailSport Touring trim.

The camera system offers four views (front, rear, side and 360 degree), as well as tire placement graphics, to help drivers navigate obstacles outside their natural line of sight.

More rugged design

The 2027 Honda Passport TrailSport and TrailSport Touring trims are getting more pronounced fender flares up front and rear, a newly sculpted lower front fascia and two amber LED hood scoop lights to complement the amber daytime running lights.

The Blackout Package, which is available on all trims of the TrailSport, now gets new black front and rear fascias and matching black 18-inch alloy wheels and Honda badges.

The TrailSport Touring and TrailSport Touring Blackout models get a new Smoke Blue Pearl colour option.

Canadian availability

Honda Canada did not provide 2027 pricing. As a reference, the 2026 Honda Passport TrailSport has a starting manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $56,990, that’s before any fees and levies are tacked on. The price range tops out with the TrailSport Touring Blackout, which starts at $61,740.

Honda Canada said the 2027 Passport TrailSport will start arriving at Canadian dealerships later this fall.
