Large, family hauling SUVs are in right now.
Off-road-ready SUVs are also in right now.
And, of course, hybrid-powered SUVs are also in.
Acura is planning to play in all three of those areas within a few years when it launches a trio of vehicles in North America.
The Japanese luxury auto brand announced plans to grow its sales in North America by launching three new SUV models, including an all-new fourth-generation Acura RDX.
The other two would include a new adventure-ready SUV and a big family hauler, which would become Acura’s first eight-seater.
“Acura’s growth strategy is centred on understanding and evolving alongside the needs of our Canadian customers,” said Dave Jamieson, president and CEO, Honda Canada, in a news release. “Through continued investment in the brand, we are expanding our ability to offer premium products and innovative technologies that provide meaningful value throughout every stage of the ownership journey.”
Adventure-ready SUV coming in 2028
Acura said the arrival of the new SUVs will begin with the launch of the new adventure-ready SUV, which the automaker plans to bring to market in early 2028.
Acura said this model will give buyers a vehicle that lets them go on outdoor adventures and also offer modern and premium styling as well as the comfort and technology features they expect.
Acura’s largest SUV in the works
Acura is also planning to launch its largest SUV yet. The new eight-passenger SUV will be positioned above the company’s MDX, which offers seven seats.
The new family hauler is currently in development. An expected date of arrival hasn’t been announced.

RDX Hybrid also planned for 2028
Lastly, the fourth-generation RDX Hybrid is planned for a 2028 launch.
The compact SUV will be the first Acura vehicle to feature Honda’s two-motor hybrid technology.
The trio of new SUVs will join the Acura lineup that also includes the ADX, MDX and Integra.
New V6 hybrid in development
A new V6 hybrid powertrain is in development, Acura said. This one will power Acura’s D-segment vehicles, with the automaker promising sporty performance, improved towing and improved efficiency.
“By broadening Acura’s lineup to include products in some of the Canadian market’s most sought-after segments, we can offer our customers solutions that grow alongside them while building a stronger foundation for the future of the brand,” said Hayato Mori, vice president of business operations, Honda Canada, in a news release.
