Mitsubishi Motor Sales of Canada has revealed more details about the upcoming Eclipse Sportback.
The small battery-electric SUV is launching in Canada for the 2027 model year and will be available starting in late October.
The EV has a 75-kWh capacity battery pack, providing an estimated driving range of up to 454 kilometres on a single charge.
The Eclipse Sportback will be offered in a single, well-equipped trim, with an optional tech package available, the company said.
Nissan to Mitsubishi conversion
The single-trim offering is not all that surprising considering the Eclipse Sportback is based on the Nissan Leaf.
A similar strategy is employed for the Nissan Rogue Plug-in Hybrid, which is based on the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. The Nissan is offered in a single trim while the Mitsubishi has numerous options.
The Nissan Rogue Plug-in Hybrid is also offered in an upper-end trim, so it’s priced quite a bit higher than the base model of the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV.
Price still unknown
Mitsubishi Canada hasn’t announced the Eclipse Sportback’s prices. They will be announced soon.
But the company says the EV will have a very competitive manufacturer’s suggested retail price, and it will be eligible for Canada’s Electric Vehicle Affordability Program, which requires vehicles to cost no more than $50,000 to qualify for the EV rebate.
As a reference, the 2026 Nissan Leaf has MSRPs ranging from $44,998 to $52,798.
