Two years after launching the Urus SE, an SUV with a plug-in hybrid powertrain, Lamborghini has created a more performance-oriented version of it.
The automaker unveiled the Urus SE Performante on July 1.
The model ups the performance, precision and power of the Urus SE.

Powertrain details
The upgraded powertrain gets the same 4-litre twin-turbo V8 engine paired with a permanent-magnet electric motor.
Power is increased to 812 CV (801 hp), up from 800 CV (789 hp).
The SUV also has 1000 Nm (737 lb.-ft.) of torque.
Lamborghini also threw in more carbon-fibre elements into the SUV’s bodywork to help improve the vehicle’s power-to-weight ratio.
Total weight is down by 32 kilograms compared to the Urus SE, with the Performante version weighing 2,473 kilograms.

Improved driving precision
Lamborghini didn’t just add more power.
The SUV gets upgraded aerodynamic elements and a new Aura dual-chamber air suspension system.
Compared to the previous Urus Performante (the non-plug-in hybrid version), body roll is cut in half during fast driving and vibrations are reduced by 25 per cent, Lamborghini said.
The model also introduces Rally driving mode to the Urus SE range. The automaker said the mode was calibrated to deliver maximum driving excitement on loose surfaces. Other modes include Strada, Sport, Corsa and EV.

Improved acceleration
The Urus SE Performante outstrips its Urus SE sibling in acceleration metrics.
Acceleration times are reported as:
- Zero to 100 km/h – 3.3 seconds (down from 3.4 seconds)
- Zero to 200 km/h – 10.8 seconds (down from 11.2 seconds)
- Top speed – 312 km/h (unchanged)

Design
Lamborghini set out to give the Urus SE Performante what it calls a “bold sportiness” design concept with sharper lines and more sculpted bodywork.
Additionally, every aerodynamic element is fully functional.
There’s also more exposed carbon fibre and the SUV rides on new 23-inch wheels with a Y-spoke design.
“This model represents the highest level of performance, driving precision and emotional engagement ever achieved by Urus, while preserving the versatility and everyday usability that have established it as a benchmark in its segment,” Automobili Lamborghini chairman and CEO Stephan Winkelmann said in a news release.
“Urus SE Performante is the result of Lamborghini’s relentless approach to innovation and performance, combining state-of-the-art hybrid technology, advanced vehicle dynamics and a design language that conveys its character at first sight. It is the ultimate expression of the Super SUV.”
