The good folks in Affalterbach, Germany, the home of Mercedes-AMG, have created something fun for lovers of Mercedes-Benz SUVs to salivate after.

The company revealed new top-of-the-performance-line AMG GLE and GLS models motivated by a new biturbo 4-litre V8 engine with a flat-plane crankshaft.

The motor, named M177 EVO, produces 603 hp and 627 lb.-ft. of torque. That gives the new models the same power as their predecessors while reducing fuel consumption and remissions.

The newly unveiled models include the 2027 Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S 4MATIC+, which is available in SUV and coupe body styles, and the 2027 Mercedes-AMG GLS 63 4MATIC+.

The motor receives electrified support in the form of an integrated starter generator (ISG 2.0) and a 48-volt electrical system, which offers up to 23 hp and 151 lb.-ft. of torque.

They have a top speed of 280 km/h.

Sporty handling

The GLS is the automaker’s largest SUV, the S Class of SUVs if you will, and the GLE is the company’s midsize SUV, which also offers loads of interior space.

Even so, Mercedes-AMG set out to make both agile.

The company said the models are equipped with AMG Active Ride Control for active roll stabilization, reducing body roll in corners and creating stable and precise handling dynamics.

The SUVs’ AMG Ride Control+ air suspension with adaptive damping constantly adapts to the driving situation.

It can also raise the GLS and GLE’s ride height, based on need. For example, a Trail drive model raises the SUVs 2.2 inches higher, while Sport and Sport+ lowers the ride height by 0.4 inches.

The sporty SUVs are also luxurious, so you can expect all the usual premium Mercedes-Benz appointments on the inside out and .

The GLE 63 S and GLS 63 are launching for the 2027 model year.
