The Polestar 3 electric vehicle has been upgraded, giving it a quicker charging capability and more power along with a few other improvements.

The updated model is now available in Canada, the automaker announced this month (May 2026).

The updated Polestar 3 has a Canadian starting manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $105,000. With fees and levies, that brings the price to $107,800.

New 800-volt architecture

The updated Polestar 3 sees its biggest changes in its new 800-volt electric architecture.

The company said the new Polestar 3 is capable of Level 3 DC fast-charging rates of up to 350 kW and that a 10 to 80 per cent charge can be achieved in as little as 22 minutes, which is 25 per cent faster than before.

Breathe Charge, a battery software that monitors the battery’s condition and adjusts charging speed to maximize fast charging and protect long-term battery health, improves charging speeds as well. Polestar said the system allows the EV to get 38 per cent more range added in a 10-minute DC charge compared to if the EV didn’t have the system.

Power upgraded

Polestar fitted the EV with a new permanent magnet synchronous rear motor, which is paired with an asynchronous front motor on dual-motor versions.

The base model gets 544 hp, which is good for a zero to 100 km/h run of 4.7 seconds and an estimated driving range of 502 kilometres. The previous version had 489 hp and an estimate driving range of 506 kilometres.

The Performance model gets 680 hp, which gives the EV a zero to 100 km/h sprint time of 3.9 seconds and an estimated driving range of 452 kilometres. The previous Performance model had 517 hp and a driving range of 449 kilometres.

Improved software

The electrical drivetrain system isn’t the 3’s only new trick.

Polestar upgraded the vehicle’s core computer, which now features an Nvidia Drive AGX Origin processor.

Polestar said the new processor is capable of computing 254 trillion operations per second, up from 30 trillion in the previous version.

Polestar said the faster processor allows for faster and more advanced management of active safety systems, vehicle functions and sensor data.

Other changes

Other changes include new exterior and interior colour options, and exterior emblems with contrasting colours.

The Polestar 3 now starts with the Dual motor trim as the base model and Performance being the next up.

Moving up to the Performance model adds $15,000 to the price tag.
