BMW Group has revealed a concept car from its newest automotive brand – BMW Alpina – which shows just where the brand is headed.
The Vision BMW Alpina concept car essentially takes BMW’s 7 Series saloon and turns it into a spectacular-looking coupe measuring 5.2 metres in length.
The automaker said the concept car is a design study that heralds BMW Alpina’s new chapter.
The German automaker purchased Alpina, known as a tuner of BMW cars, and created a new brand within the BMW Group portfolio of brands, with the new BMW Alpina slotting above BMW and under Rolls-Royce.
“BMW Alpina fills a gap in our portfolio between BMW and Rolls-Royce as we see even more potential in the high-end segment,” said Oliver Viellechner, head of BMW Alpina, in a news release. “With Alpina, we have a strong legacy and a global community, which we want to build on, while preserving the essence of what the brand stands for – speed, comfort and sophistication.”

About Vision BMW Alpina
The automaker said the concept car has a substantial presence thanks to its length, width and low stance. The roofline is long and raked.
A V8 engine sits under the hood, which the company said produces a distinct Alpina exhaust note, which is rich and deep at low speeds and sonorous at high revs.
BMW’s kidney grille is reinterpreted as a shark nose in 3D form.
The automaker promises the interior of its first car will feature luxury appointments and quality materials paired with BMW’s latest technologies to create a comfortable car.

When will first BMW Alpina car arrive?
The automaker said the first model of the BMW Alpina brand will arrive next year.
The car will be inspired by the BMW 7 Series, but will be unmistakably BMW Alpina, the automaker said.
