The C-Class, a core car model within the Mercedes-Benz lineup that battles with the likes of the BMW 3 Series and former Audi A4 (now A5), is going electric.
The automaker unveiled the all-new electric C-Class, which is debuting for the 2027 model year.
Canadian market details weren’t provided, but if Canada gets it at a similar time as the United States, we can expect to see it in the first half of 2027.
Mercedes-Benz said the new electric sedan is the sportiest C-Class yet, and offers long-distance comfort thanks to optional Airmatic air suspension, rear-axle steering and other features.

Powertrain
Let’s skip straight to the electric powertrain goods.
At launch, the car will launch as the C 400 4MATIC Electric. This all-wheel-drive variant will pack a 482-hp powertrain, which Mercedes-Benz said will hustle the car from standstill to 100 km/h in four seconds.
The car has a 94-kWh lithium-ion battery.
Based on the WLTP test standards observed in Europe, the car gets an estimated driving range of 762 kilometres on a charge. Once it arrives here, we can expect range to be somewhere around 600-plus kilometres on our more conservative EPA/NRCan testing standards.
Mercedes-Benz said the car can add 325 kilometres of range in just 10 minutes of charging.
The car has a drag coefficient as low as 0.22 Cd.

More space
The new C-Class has a wheelbase that is 97 mm longer than before, coming in at 2,962 mm. It also has more headroom in front and back.
The trunk has a 470-litre capacity while the frunk offers an additional 101-litres of space.

Dynamic and comfortable
Mercedes-Benz set out to make the car both agile and comfortable.
The company said an optional Airmatic air suspension with intelligent control and 4.5-degree rear-axle steering offer a range of driving modes between Comfort and Sport.
The rear-axle motor has a two-speed transmission that combines high efficiency and performance. The automaker said this gives the car quick acceleration, great efficiency and high towing capacity in first gear, while the second gear is designed for high efficiency at highway speeds.
The Airmatic air suspension lowers the car in Sport mode.
It also uses Car-to-X information from other Mercedes-Benz vehicles driving ahead to adjust the suspension damper levels for the road ahead.

Technology
The car uses a Mercedes-Benz Operating System (MB.OS), which manages all the functions of the car via an intelligent ecosystem with an AI-driven supercomputer.
The car also arrives with the fourth-generation MBUX, which uses AI from ChatGPT4o, Microsoft Bing and Google Gemini. Mercedes-Benz said use of the three AI technologies allows the car’s virtual assistant to utilize the optimum technology depending on the situation.

The front screen makes a big impression.
The car can be optioned with the MBUX Superscreen, which combines three screens under one glass surface, or the MBUX Hyperscreen, which is a single screen across the front of the dashboard. It measures 39.1 inches.
While the Hyperscreen is one screen, the driver and passenger can adjust their brightness levels independently.
Both screen options use the Unity Game Engine for their graphics.

High-quality materials
The automaker said the new C-Class has exquisite materials, offering a range of Softtorino leather and Nappa leather upholsteries with a variety of colours.
The C-Class can also be selected with a vegan interior, with materials certified by The Vegan Society.

Wellness experience
The car also offers a wellness experience.
Energizing Comfort programs offer soothing sounds, massage and light activations to offer a soothing atmosphere.
What’s more, the interior is said to be exceptionally quiet and offers a high level of vibration suppression thanks to a rigid bodyshell, noise-insulating laminated safety glass, smooth aerodynamics and more.
