The electric BMW sport utility vehicle that’s too cool for a class size number is being discontinued in Canada.

The iX will be discontinued at the end of the 2026 model year.

The automaker said iX will be discontinued in Canada and the United States but will remain available in other markets.

Production for the Canadian market will end in October, BMW Canada told this blog.

“There will be no production of a 2027 model-year BMW iX for Canada as we transition to our next-generation, Neue Klasse vehicles,” a company spokesperson said via email.

About the BMW iX

The iX is a midsize luxury SUV that’s a bit of an anomaly in the automaker’s lineup as it has no number designation corresponding to its size, such as the X1, X2, iX3/X3, X5, X6 and X7. Instead, the iX marches to the tune of its own beat.

The 2026 iX is available in three variants in Canada. They include:

  • xDrive45 – 402 hp and estimated range of up to 502 kilometres
  • xDrive60 – 536 hp and an expected range of up to 547 kilometres
  • M70 xDrive – 650 hp and an estimated range of 486 kilometres

Canadian pricing

The starting manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) for the 2026 BMW iX is as follows:

  • xDrive45 – $89,900
  • xDrive60 – $94,900
  • M70 xDrive – $129,000

The MSRP doesn’t include additional fees or levies.
