Ford is giving SUV buyers looking for something adventure-ready another option with the launch of the 2027 Mustang Mach-E Trail.
This new trim gives the electric SUV various rugged elements, higher ground clearance and standard all-wheel drive.
Ford already offers the Mustang Mach-E Rally as a rugged option but that model costs around $70,000. The new Mustang Mach-E Trail will offer buyers an adventure-ready electric SUV at a lower starting price.
In Canada, Mustang Mach-E Trail is a $3,250 package for the Select eAWD trim of the electric SUV. That’s the base model with all-wheel drive.
The 2027 Mustang Mach-E Select eAWD has a starting Canadian manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $48,995, that’s not including various fees and levies. That should put the Mach-E with the Trail package, including destination and delivery charges, well below 60 grand.

Features of the Mustang Mach-E Trail
The Trail package gives the Mustang Mach-E a specially tuned suspension with front and rear passive struts and springs, which adds to the ride height, 10 millimetres in front and 15 millimetres in the back.
The Trail package also gives the Select eAWD grade various elements taken straight out of the Rally model, including the steering rack, and 19-inch high gloss dark carbonized gray wheels with as-cast graphics and Michelin CrossClimate 2 tires. These elements improve grip and control on pavement, gravel and dirt roads, Ford said.
The Mach-E Trails scores certain rugged design elements. This includes a Carbon Black lower front fascia and a Mach-E Trail logo on the centre armrest.

Power outlet comes standard
A handy feature of the Trail package are standard 400W on-board outlets in the cargo area and the rear of the centre console.
These outlets can charge personal devices and power small accessories such as an electric pump, camp lights, fan or bike pump.

Bike rack available
Ford is also offering a Thule clamp-on cross bar kit for the Mustang Mach-E Trail, which gives buyers several configurations that support the carrying of bikes, kayaks, gear boxes and more on the roof.
An available Protection Package adds all-weather floor mats and a cargo area protector.

What’s new for the Mustang Mach-E in 2027?
The new Trail package isn’t all that’s new on the Ford Mustang Mach-E for the 2027 model year.
For 2027, the extended range battery is now standard across the model range. That gives the Select and Premium grades a battery capacity of 88 kWh and the GT and Rally a capacity of 91 kWh.
Ford is fitting the all-wheel-drive models with a lower-cost front motor that offers the same performance, reducing the cost of entry for all-wheel drive.
The 400W Pro Power Onboard outlet, which is standard on the Trail model, is now available as an option on Premium and GT models. It’s also available on the Rally.
The Select and Premium grades can now get BlueCruise 1.5. On the Select model, the Tech Pack Lite option is required, and on the Premium grade, the Tech Pack is required. The GT and Rally have standard access to BlueCruise 1.5, Ford’s latest hands-free driver assistance system. Ford said BlueCruise hardware must be selected at the time the Trail model is ordered or it won’t be available on that model as a post-purchase add-on.
The Ford Connectivity Package and Ford Security Package are standard across the 2027 Mustang Mach-E lineup.
Canadian availability
Ford said Canadians can now place their orders for the 2027 Mustang Mach-E through a dealer. Models equipped with the Trail package are expected to start arriving in Canada in the first quarter of 2027.
The online configurator will open in early 2027.
