The Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, the performance car’s entry-level model, can now reach a speed of 200 mph (322 km/h) thanks to its larger engine.
General Motors validated the 200-mph claim during a top-speed run.
The 322 km/h speed is an increase of 10 km/h compared to the 2026 Corvette Stingray.
How did the car get faster?
The Corvette is picking up a new LS6 6.7-litre V8 engine for the 2027 model year that gives the car 535 hp and 520 lb.-ft. of torque.
That replaces a 6.2-litre V8 that in the 2026 Corvettes Stingray, which produces 490 hp and 465 lb.-ft. of toque (or 495 hp and 470 lb.-ft. with the Z51 Performance Package).
Improved acceleration
The car’s acceleration numbers are also improving.
For 2027, the Stingray posts a 2.8-second zero to 60 mph time (down from 2.9 seconds), and an 11-second quarter-mile with a 124-mph trap speed.
Canadian prices for the 2027 Corvette haven’t been announced. The 2026 model starts at $93,542, including fees and levies.
