The Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, Canada’s top-selling plug-in hybrid four years running, has a sweet discount in May that could help it qualify for another cash incentive.

Mitsubishi Motor Sales of Canada is offering a $3,000 consumer bonus on 2026 Outlander PHEV until June 1.

The compact three-row SUV, which has a starting manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $49,998, typically costs around $53,000 once various fees and levies are factored in, according to the Mitsubishi Canada online configurator, and thus it exceeds the $50,000 limit to qualify for the federal government’s Electric Vehicle Affordability Program incentive,

EVAP offers a rebate of up to $2,500 for plug-in hybrid electric vehicles that are assembled in countries that have a free-trade agreement with Canada.

With the discount applied, the online configurator shows the base model of the 2026 Outlander PHEV can be had for as little as $50,066, once fees and levies are factored in, just barely exceeding the EVAP price limit.

Fees, levies and selling price may vary by location, so if your local dealer can knock off a bit more off the selling price, the Outlander PHEV could potentially qualify for the EVAP rebate.

Just be aware, if you move up to the higher trims or start going wild on the options check boxes, the SUV’s price will climb as well.

Electric and gasoline-combined fuel consumption is improved to 3.2 Le/100 km from 3.6 Le/100 km.

And, gasoline-only fuel efficiency is also improved to (city/highway/combined) 8.6/8.6/8.6 L/100 km, from 9.2/8.7/9.0 L/100 km.
