Aston Martin has launched the Valhalla Spider, an open-top version of its Valhalla mid-engine supercar.
The spider uses the same plug-in hybrid powertrain as the coupe and offers the same top speed, which is electronically limited to 350 km/h (217 mph).
“Valhalla Coupe broke so much new ground. Our first production mid-engined supercar. Our first plug-in hybrid. The first to feature our bespoke flat-plane crank V8 engine, and the first to use our all-new eight-speed dual clutch transmission (DCT). It also pioneered a fresh design language and achieved a unique blend of exemplary on-road feel and engagement matched by extraordinary on-track capability,” Aston Martin CEO Adrian Hallmark said in a news release.
“Valhalla Spider builds on those impressive ‘firsts,’ preserving the aesthetic beauty and dynamic bandwidth of Valhalla Coupe while introducing the expanded opportunities for enjoyment and engagement that can only be found in an open-cockpit supercar. High speed or low speed. Rain or shine. Roof on or roof off. Road or track. Valhalla Spider ticks every box.”

Valhalla powertrain
The Valhalla Spider, like the coupe, is powered by a powertrain utilizes a flat plane crank 4-litre twin-turbo V8 engine producing 817 hp, plus three electric motors producing 248 hp.
Combined, the system produces 1,064 hp (1,079 PS) and 811 lb.-ft. (1,100 Nm) of torque.
The V8 engine is connected to the DCT that sends power to the rear wheels. The transmission incorporates one of the three electric motors plus an electronic rear differential (E-diff).
The other two electric motors send power to the front wheels.

Roof options
The spider comes standard with a removable and stowable black fabric roof. With the fabric roof in place, the car can be driven at speeds up to 200 km/h.
The car also has an optional carbon-fibre hard top, which allows for a top speed of 350 km/h.
And with the roof off, the top speed remains 350 km/h.
The car also has a rain cover.

Wind deflector improves comfort
Aston Martin said the car has a unique wind deflector, which helps improve occupant comfort at high performance levels.
The deflector can be clipped into position when the roof is off. It manages airflow off the windscreen header to ensure cooling air flow still comes down into a snorkel while lifting air over the occupants.
Aston Martin optimized the snorkel for the open-top car.
When the roof is on, the wind deflector can be folded into three parts and stored inside the car’s 15-litre sill stowage area.

Dynamics and performance maintained
The Valhalla Spider uses the same bespoke, highly rigid carbon-fibre tub as the coupe. It also shares the hardware and software as the coupe, but tuned for the spider.
The car’s uses active aerodynamic surfaces to precisely manage underbody airflow, it continually adjusts front and rear downforce for maximum grip, handling balance and response consistency, or to reduce drag, depending on the situation.
With the roof on, the car can produce up to 600 kilograms of downforce.

Availability
Aston Martin didn’t say how many Valhalla Spiders will be produced. The coupe is limited to 999 units.
Customer deliveries are expected to begin in the third quarter of 2027.
