Geely Auto will sell vehicles in Canada starting next year, the Chinese automotive giant announced.

Geely made the official announcement it is entering the Canadian market Friday, Oct. 9, one week after opening a Canadian website, which we reported on previously.

Geely is one of four Chinese automakers reportedly planning to enter Canada soon.

The company said it is currently establishing local operations and developing a retail and service network ahead of introducing its first vehicles to Canadian consumers in 2027.

“Canada represents an important next step in Geely Auto’s international growth,” said Bryan Wu, managing director of Geely Auto Canada, in a news release.

“We are entering this market with a long-term commitment, bringing our global technology and engineering capabilities to Canadian drivers while building strong local partnerships and the support customers need to feel confident in choosing Geely. We know that trust is earned over time, and we are committed to earning it here.”

Geely operates in more than 100 countries

The Geely Auto Group sold more than three million vehicles globally in 2025 and nearly 1.69 million of these were “new energy vehicles” – EVs, PHEVs, etc.

The company said its vehicles are already on the road in more than 100 countries and regions around the world.

Geely Holding, the parent company of Geely Auto, is also the owner of Swedish automotive brands Volvo and Polestar and British automaker Lotus, all three of which sell vehicles in Canada.

Geely will announce more Canadian details soon

The automaker said it is building its Canadian presence by bringing together its global capabilities and local market expertise. It also intends to offer a customer experience based around the needs of Canadian drivers.

The company said it will share more information about its first Canadian vehicles, dealerships, service locations, pricing as it gets closer to a commercial launch next year.
