A few weeks after unveiling the first-ever Range Rover Electric, Land Rover has revealed the Range Rover Sport Electric.
Much like its larger sibling, the Sport version of the electric SUV is powered by a dual-motor all-wheel-drive powertrain with 542 hp (550 PS) and 627 lb.-ft. (850 Nm) of torque.
Zero to 60 mph is said to arrive in 4.3 seconds when Dynamic Launch Control is activated, matching the acceleration of a V8-powered Range Rover Sport.
The electric SUV operates on an 800-volt architecture and has a massive lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 118.5 kWh.
Based on Euro-observed WLTP testing, the Range Rover Sport Electric has an estimated 609 kilometres of range, though Land Rover gives it a real-world estimate of 536 kilometres.

Off-road dynamism
Range Rover is Land Rover’s luxury brand of vehicles, but they’re still capable of outdoorsy fun.
The automaker set out to make the EV dynamic and responsive.
Land Rover put the Range Rover Sport Electric through its paces during testing, including climbing a 45-degree gradient and driving in extreme temperature and constantly changing conditions, to test its off-road capability.
The SUV’s intelligent traction management system, virtual all-wheel drive, dynamic air suspension and electronic active roll control (eARC), can apply up to 1,400 Nm of force across each axle.
The SUV also has twin valve dampers and Adaptive Dynamics 2, which monitors 100 parameters 500 times per second to provide improved control of body roll and pitch when cornering and braking.

It also has all-wheel steering.
Land Rover said the vehicle was built to withstand high impacts.
Land Rover also subjected the battery to extreme multi-axis vibration and shock testing in -40 C to 90 C temperatures to ensure it can handle the kind of beating Land Rovers are known to be able to take.
“Range Rover Sport is the most dynamic expression of Range Rover. With Range Rover Sport Electric we’re taking that spirit of visceral engagement and desire into the electric age,” said Range Rover managing director Martin Limpert in a news release.
“It is first and foremost a Range Rover Sport. The seamlessly integrated electric propulsion system means we’ve been able to unlock new levels of responsiveness and precision, with a uniquely tuned chassis setup, performance-focused torque delivery, and distinctive sound profiles that ensure our clients enjoy the very best driver engagement in a sporting luxury SUV.”

Built in the U.K.
The Range Rover Sport Electric was designed and engineered in the United Kingdom where it also assembled.
The 2027 Range Rover Sport Electric has already gone on sale in some markets, but not yet in Canada. Canadian market details weren’t provided.
