Rugged SUVs are back in style and Toyota is giving customers what they want with the launch of the 2027 Grand Highlander Woodland Edition.
The Woodland treatment gives the boxy three-row SUV rugged features such as all-terrain tires, higher ground clearance and more.
The 2027 Grand Highlander is available with three powertrain choices, including a standard gas model, a hybrid model, a Hybrid MAX model.
The new Woodland Edition is available on the Grand Highlander Hybrid with the standard hybrid powertrain.
The powertrain uses a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine paired with an electric motor producing a total of 245 hp. It features on-demand all-wheel drive.
With the addition of the new trim, the 2027 Grand Highlander Hybrid will be available in XLE, Woodland Edition and Limited grades.

More information about the Grand Highlander
The Grand Highlander, not to be confused with the Highlander, is technically a midsize three-row SUV, but is quite large for its class. It’s noticeably larger and boxier than the Highlander.
With the Highlander going fully electric for the 2027 model year, the Grand Highlander is essentially becoming Toyota’s entry-level three-row SUV.

Gas and Hybrid MAX powertrains
It is also available with a standard internal combustion engine powertrain choice or a more powerful Hybrid MAX powertrain.
The ICE model is powered by a turbocharged 2.4-litre engine with 265 hp. This powertrain features dynamic torque control all-wheel drive. The ICE model can be had in XLE and Limited grades.
The Hybrid MAX version pairs the 2.4-litre turbocharged engine with an electric system to produce 362 hp. The Hybrid MAX has full-time all-wheel drive. It is available in a single grade, Platinum.

What else is new for 2027?
The arrival of the Woodland Edition is not the only thing that’s new for the 2027 Grand Highlander.
For the 2027 model year, the XLE gas and hybrid models get new 18-inch dark grey wheels.
There are also a host of changes for the 2027 Grand Highlander Hybrid MAX Platinum. These include:
- Grille mesh changes from a gunmetal finish to black finish
- Hood trim changes from a chrome finish to black finish
- Roof rails change from a silver finish to black finish
- Window trim changes from chrome finish to black finish
- Mirror caps change from body colour to black finish
- Shark fin antenna changes from body colour to black finish
