One year ago, the singular Daytona SP3 Tailor Made became the most expensive new Ferrari sold at auction.
The car sold at a price of $26 million U.S. at the RM Sotheby’s auction during Monterey Car week in California.
Now, one year later, the auction house held the Monterey Auction 2026 from Aug. 13 to 15 and the Daytona SP3 Tailor Made, plus pretty much every other vehicle in this year’s auction, was outclassed by a new Ferrari.
Someone paid $40 million U.S. ($55.5 million Canadian) for a 2026 Ferrari Luce Tailor Made, Chassis 0 – giving the buyer access to the first production Luce, Ferrari’s first ever electric vehicle.
That doesn’t just make it the most expensive new Ferrari sold at auction. It also makes it the most expensive new car ever sold at auction.
All proceeds from the sale will go to the Ferrari Foundation, a charity that supports educational opportunities.
About the Ferrari Luce Tailor Made

It has a Madreperla Semi-Gloss exterior colour, which was developed specifically for this car, and an interior in Perla Le Mans metallic leather in Perla with Grigio Corvara secondary elements.
