Kia has launched a performance version of the EV5, which arrives not long after the compact electric SUV became available in Canada.

The automaker launched the 2027 EV5 GT, which comes standard with an all-wheel-drive powertrain.

The online configurator is now open with the model arriving with a starting manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) of $63,495.

What is the EV5 GT?

The GT model represents the top-of-the-performance-line trim of the EV5.

It features a dual-motor all-wheel-drive powertrain with 302 hp and 354 lb.-ft. of torque.

It uses a battery with a capacity of 81.4 kWh, which gives it an estimated driving range of 402 kilometres.

That’s the lowest range among the models equipped with the 81.4-kWh battery.

Only the Light FWD trim, which has a 60.3-kWh battery, has a lesser range, at 335 kilometres. The other models with the larger battery see range ratings of 439 kilometres for all-wheel-drive versions and 457 kilometres for front-wheel-drive versions.

Unique elements of the GT

The EV5 GT gets unique visual elements, including a neon accent treatment on the brake calipers, suede and synthetic leather seats, themed cluster and on the steering wheel-mounted GT button.

The GT rides on 20-inch alloy wheels wearing Michelin tires.

The EV5 GT is available in these colours: Snow White Pearl, Gravity Grey, Fusion Black, Ivory Silver, Magma Red and Dark Ocean Blue.

Kia Canada said the EV5 GT is available as a factory order from EV-certified Kia dealerships.
