Koenigsegg driver Markus Lundh hits record 111 km/h in a Lego car

The stunt in the life-size Lego Koenigsegg Sadair’s Spear was done in Goodwood where Lundh set a production car record in the real version of the car.

Fresh off setting the production car speed record of 305 km/h in a quarter mile, Koenigsegg driver Markus Lundh took some time to set another automotive record.

This time, instead of driving a real Koenigsegg, Lundh took the wheel of life-size Koenigsegg made of plastic bricks to set the speed record for a Lego car.

He piloted a life-size Lego Technic Koenigsegg Sadair’s Spear to a speed of 111 km/h, more than double the previous life-size Lego car speed record, which had been 50 km/h.

Sure, it was a publicity stunt, which will help the Lego Group sell its latest automotive set, the Lego Technic Koenigsegg Sadair’s Spear Megacar, but let’s give props where props is due. Lundh drove a car made of plastic and held together without any adhesives at highway speeds.

The stunt was conducted at the Goodwood estate in West Sussex, England, where the annual Goodwood Hillclimb takes place.

Lundh, by the way, is the record-holder at the event.

In 2025, he climbed the hill in a real life Koenigsegg Sadair’s Spear in a time of 47.14 seconds. There are non-production cars with quicker times.

Whereas the Goodwood Hillclimb is done going uphill, Lundh took the Lego car downhill to achieve the record speed.

“Getting the chance to take the driver’s seat of this life-size LEGO Technic build was an incredible privilege. It really did feel like I was handling a real Koenigsegg, bringing back memories of setting the speed record at Goodwood in the Sadair’s Spear in July 2025,” Lundh said in a news release.

“It was awesome to set another record on this iconic course – a true testament to the level of engineering the Lego Technic team has achieved.”

The Lego car you can buy

While you can’t buy the life-size version, Lego group will gladly sell you a one-eight scale version.

The Lego Technic Koenigsegg Sadair’s Spear Megacar is the sixth model in the Lego Technic Ultimate Car Concept Series.

It is made up of 4,104 Lego pieces and features a V8 piston engine, functional nine-speed transmission, a Triplex front and rear suspension, and a rotating gear indicator disc.

A signature feature of the real Koenigsegg is a Ghost Mode function, which raises the car’s doors, hood and frunk elements. The Lego car has this function as well, as a single movement can raise the rear clam, rotate the signature dihedral synchro-helix doors and front hood, and fold the mirrors.
