Mini is getting in on the off-road-ready SUV segment that has seen its popularity rise in recent years.
The automaker has launched the rugged Mini Countryman Untamed Edition, which has standard all-wheel drive, higher ground clearance, all-terrain tires and other features.
In Canada, the adventurous model will be available as the gasoline-powered Countryman S ALL4, as well as the all-electric MINI Countryman SE ALL4.

Unique off-road elements
The Untamed Edition rides on Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus tires mounted on exclusive 19-inch light-alloy wheels featuring a unique design.
The suspension is lifted by 15 millimetres. Combined with the wheel and tire package, that gives the SUV 19 millimetres of more ground clearance compared to a standard Countryman.
The automaker said the approach and breakover angles have also been optimized.
Anti-lock brakes, dynamic stability control and steering systems have been returned for the new suspension hardware and all-terrain tires.

Unique design elements
Untamed models also get unique design elements.
The grille is new with a vertical orientation and angular inserts to give it a more upright front end. The grille is finished with a Dark Steel accent colour.
Front and rear underbody protection elements have been redesigned. There are new side sill designs,, and a newly sculpted rear diffuser, giving the Untamed Edition a more off-road-ready appearance.
Textured matte black protective films appear on the wheel arches and side sills. A new power dome on the hood mirrors this colour. These elements also help protect the SUV from stone chips.

Colours created for Untamed Edition
The Untamed Edition models also have available colours that were created specifically for them.
This includes the Hideaway Grey, Nomad Blue and Frozen Nomad Blue. Other available colours include Nanuq White and Midnight Black.
The Frozen Nomad Blue is the first time Mini is giving a series production vehicle a matte exterior exterior colour.
The roof can be Glazed White or Jet Black.

Interior gets unique elements
The interior of the vehicle also has unique elements.
Mini set out to give the Countryman Untamed Edition interior colours, materials and finishes inspired by modern outdoor equipment.

The vehicles get Vescin Nightshade Blue JCW sport seats featuring perforated Vescin upholstery with knitted surfaces in the shoulder and headrest areas. The knit pattern is inspired by rock formations. The seats also have piping and decorative stitching in a Cornflower Blue colour. They also sport an Untamed logo, which features a mountain panorama.
Buyers can also choose their seats in Vescin Vintage Brown or Vescin Black upholstery.
The dashboard and door panels get knitted surfaces in a Millennial Melange colour that combined dark grey shades with a rich blue base.
Interior accents are Dark Steel, instead of the Countryman’s typical Vibrant Silver.

Cornflower Blue accents are also on the steering wheel strap, steering wheel spoke and other areas of the interior.
The centre console storage box was redesigned for a more rugged appearance.
The interior comes with rubber all-weather floor mats and a matching cargo area liner.

Available outdoor equipment
Mini worked with Autohome to create a roof tent, which is an optional feature. The tent can be opened in seconds due to integrated gas struts.
The tent has weather-resistant materials, panoramic openings and an interior that is said to be practical.
Mini also worked with Helinox to create an exclusive camping collection.
This features lightweight folding chairs and camping tables.
