Nissan’s long-promised, oft-teased Rogue Hybrid has finally been revealed for the North American market and Canadians will be able to buy it shortly.

Nissan Canada said the all-new 2027 Rogue Hybrid will be available here this fall. It has a starting manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) of $39,998 – that’s before fees and levies are added.

The Rogue Hybrid should not be confused with the Rogue Plug-in Hybrid, which is a separate model.

The non-plug-in Rogue Hybrid features Nissan’s innovative e-Power hybrid technology.

What is e-Power hybrid?

Nissan’s e-Power technology is new to North America but not to other parts of the world. The company has sold nearly two million vehicles in 68 countries powered by the technology since 2016.

The latest Rogue Hybrid feature’s Nissan’s latest evolution of the technology, which was tuned specifically for North America.

Unlike conventional hybrid-powered vehicles that feature a powertrain that alternates between electric or internal combustion engine propulsion, or simultaneously, Nissan’s e-Power technology moves the vehicle under electric power only.

The on-board gasoline-burning engine generates the energy to power the system, but does not power the wheels.

As such, the vehicle has no transmission and offers an EV-like ride with instant torque.

Powertrain specs

The ICE engine in the 2027 Rogue Hybrid is a 1.5-litre turbocharged unit tuned for quietness and efficiency, Nissan said. The engine shuts off when the hybrid system’s battery has enough charge.

The hybrid system features dual-motor electric all-wheel drive with a total output of 225 hp.

Based on Nissan’s internal testing, the automaker estimates fuel economy ratings of (city/highway/combined) 5.9/6.5/6.2 L/100 km.

New design

The Rogue Hybrid gets its own design, unique from the regular Rogue compact SUV.

It’s based on Nissan’s “Refined and Tough” design concept.

Up front, there’s a hexagonal honeycomb grille with integrated LED headlights. The SUV also has sharp angles.

The SR grade also gets unique elements for a sporty appearance.

Three new colours are available on the Rogue Hybrid: Horizon Blue Pearl Metallic, Alpine Metallic, which is also available on the Nissan Armada, and Aurora Dune Pearl.

Airy cabin

The interior is intended to be spacious. Taking aim squarely at its main competitor, the Toyota RAV4, Nissan points the Rogue Hybrid offers more front headroom and legroom.

It also has Zero Gravity seats, which reduce fatigue on long journeys.

Nissan took great efforts to reduce the outside noise entering the Rogue Hybrid’s cabin, including fitting the SUV with acoustic laminated glass and improved door sealing as well giving it aerodynamic mirror shaping.

Interior technology and comfort

The driver display measures 12.3 inches as standard and 14.3 inches on the SR and Platinum grades.

Owners can customize the cabin with 64 ambient lighting colours.

The Rogue Hybrid also has Google built-in and Google Gemini virtual assistants available.

Nissan points out the Rogue Hybrid keeps physical HVAC controls, something that’s becoming rarer.

The SUV has available climate-controlled seats with front seats designed in a way to maximize rear-seat legroom.

Doors open to nearly 90 degrees for easy entry and exit.

There are also five LATCH anchors for the rear seats, giving owners flexibility where they install child seats, including accommodating up to three seats.

Cargo space

Nissan said the cargo area has 880.7 litres of volume behind the rear seats and 1,866.1 litres with the rear seats folded.

Driver-assist technology

Nissan fitted the Rogue Hybrid with the latest evolution of its ProPilot Assist driver-assist system.

Thanks to a new front radar sensor, a new front camera with a 20 per cent wider field of view and updated software, the Rogue Hybrid can handle a wider range of driving situations than the 2026 Rogue, Nissan said.

The intelligent cruise control can better match real-world driving behaviour, including offering four following-distance settings, up from the previous three, and improved low-speed operation at speeds down to 19 km/h.

The SR and Platinum grades get Auto Lane Change and Hands-off Traffic Jam support.

Auto Lane Change will take car of changing into an adjacent lane when the driver signals and the lane is clear. This is available on highways only and at speeds between 60 and 137 km/h.

Hands-off Traffic Jam Support allows the driver to temporarily take their hands off the steering in low-speed congestion on divided highways, but only with active ProPilot Assist – a subscription feature.

Numerous advanced safety features are also included.

Canadian prices and availability

The starting Canadian prices of the 2027 Nissan Rogue Hybrid (including MSRP and fees and levies) are as follows:

• SV – $42,845 (MSRP of $39,998)
• SV Premium – $45,845 (MSRP of $42,998)
• SR – $50,845 (MSRP of $47,998)
• Platinum – $53,845 (MSRP of $50,998)

Fees, levies and selling price may vary by location.

The SR trim is scheduled to arrive in Canada this fall while the other three versions are anticipated to arrive in early 2027.
