BMW has updated its 7 Series for the 2027 model year and the newest version is already available in Canada.

As of this writing, the German automaker’s flagship sedan is offered in Canada as the gasoline-burning 740 xDrive M Sport Edition and the electric i7 60 xDrive. More versions are expected to launch later, including a plug-in hybrid model and an M8 model with a V8 engine.

New 8K TV screen option

One of the standout new features on the 2027 7 Series is the availability of the BMW Theatre Screen.

This screen offers rear-seat occupants access to a 31.3-inch touchscreen TV with 8K resolution.

The display includes an integrated camera for video conferencing, and occupants can connect devices via an HDMI port or use streaming services.

Deploying the screen also brings down the sunshades on the side windows, rear window and the panoramic glass roof to reduce outside light into the rear of the cabin.

The screen doesn’t come free of charge, however, as it’s an available option on both the 2027 BMW 740 and i7.

The BMW Theatre Screen option adds $6,500 to the cost of the 740 or i7.

The angles of the lounge seat’s backrest and the backrest’s upper section, the forward/backward position of the seat, and the seat angle are co-ordinated for improved comfort. BMW said the recline can reach a torso angle of up to 43 degrees.
