Dodge revives the Charger Super Bee, this time with 600 hp

The ICE-powered 2027 Dodge Charger will have three power outputs available from its six-cylinder Sixpack engine, with the Super Bee being the most powerful.

Dodge’s Super Bee is back.

The automaker revealed the new 2027 Dodge Charger Super Bee Launch Edition with 600 hp during the Charger’s 60th anniversary.

That makes the Super Bee the most powerful Charger currently available with an internal combustion engine.

It’s also the most powerful Super Bee in Dodge’s history. The most recent Super Bee, until now, was the 2023 Charger Super Bee, which produces 485 hp from its Hemi V8 engine.

The automaker first used the Super Bee name in 1968 and the first time on a Charger in 1971.

How does Super Bee generate 600 hp?

The Super Bee uses the same 3-litre inline six-cylinder Sixpack engine as the rest of the ICE-powered Charger lineup, including the R/T (420 hp) and Scat Pack (550 hp) models.

Dodge boosted the Charger’s engine with new custom engine calibration, larger 56-millimetre Garrett turbos and enhanced thermal capacity.

The automaker said the 2027 Charger Super Bee will accelerate from zero to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 3.6 seconds. That’s nearly a second quicker than the 2023 Super Bee, which did it in 4.5 seconds.

Super Bee also has enhanced performance

Dodge also improved the Charger Super Bee’s performance with new track-focused hardware, including 40-centimetre (16-inch) Brembo brakes with vented rotors and six pistons up front and four pistons at the rear.

The car rides on 20-by-11-inch wheels with Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar 3 summer tires measuring 305/35ZR20.

Like the other Charger models, the Super Bee gets standard all-wheel drive with an eight-speed automatic transmission routing power to the wheels.

The Super Bee also has an on-demand 100 per cent rear-wheel-drive mode.

“The Super Bee name has always stood for maximum Dodge attitude: bold, accessible performance with the hardware to back it up,” Dodge CEO Matt McAlear said in a news release.

“With the new 2027 Dodge Charger Super Bee Launch Edition, we’re not just bringing back a legendary badge, we’re honouring that legacy by outperforming every vehicle that’s adorned the Super Bee badge since 1968. Six-hundred horsepower, bigger turbos, massive Brembo brakes, serious cooling, functional aero, and dedicated track and drag technology make this the quickest, fastest and most powerful Super Bee ever, and a clear signal that Dodge performance is only getting louder, faster and more relentless.”
