Here’s the ninth Jeep Wrangler celebrating brand’s 85th anniversary

The ninth Jeep Wrangler celebrating the brand’s 85th anniversary has been revealed.

The storied automaker revealed the 2027 Jeep Wrangler Laredo, which is part of the Twelve 4 Twelve series, which is debuting a new special anniversary every month for 12 months.

The Laredo special-edition 4×4 SUV is based on the Wrangler Willys model and is available in two- and four-door versions.

Laredo legacy

This anniversary model is inspired by the iconic Laredo trim of the Wrangler from the 1980s.

The Laredo name was used beginning in the early ’80s, near the end of the CJ era. It offered 4×4 capability with distinct styling, including enhanced comfort and materials.

“The Laredo name represents a pivotal moment in the Jeep brand’s evolution, and bringing it back was an opportunity to build on that legacy,” Jeep CEO Bob Broderdorf said in a news release. “With Wrangler Laredo, we set out to create something that stands apart, while staying true to what the Jeep brand does best, delivering proven, trail-rated capability our customers can count on. It blends that capability with distinctive design, premium materials and unmistakable character, creating a Wrangler that feels true to its roots while offering something entirely new.”

The limited-edition anniversary model aims to recreate what the original Laredo did.

Standard Xtreme 35 Tire Package with 35-inch BFGoodrich KO2 tires paired with bronze beadlock-capable wheels for enhanced off-road traction, ground clearance and durability
Reintroduction of tan soft-top, a signature heritage-inspired element with modern execution, including the Sky One-touch powertop available (four-door only), and Black hardtop available (two-door and four-door)
Unique Gobi accent grille, offering an unmistakable front-end
Laredo hood decals (centre and side) inspired by archival designs
Distinctive bodyside decals that reinterpret classic striping with sharper, contemporary proportions
Rear lasso-style “4WD” decal
Bronze tow hooks and bronze-accented Jeep and Trail Rated badging
Available trailer hitch provides up to 1,587 kilograms (3,500 pounds) of towing

The interior echoes the exterior’s emphasis on earth-tone colours, texture and craftsmanship, and features a predominantly Bison Brown environment
Bison Brown Nappa leather seats with front heat and power adjust
Mayan Gold accent stitching to add a refined layer of contrast throughout the cabin
Instrument panel surround, grab handle, door armrests and the centre console wrapped in Global Black, a contrast to the Bison Brown interior
Exclusive Laredo badging, including a rear swing gate plaque featuring the co-ordinates of Laredo, Texas, and a custom centre console badge that ties the vehicle directly to its namesake
Subtle cowboy hat motif appears in the HVAC pad prints, for a nod to the region’s western heritage

Canadian availability

The 2027 Jeep Wrangler Laredo is expected to be available in Canada later this summer.
