Hennessey Venom F5-M pairs more than 2,000 hp with a 6-speed manual

Hennessey, the U.S.-based automaker responsible for some outrageous hypercars and wildly re-engineered cars, trucks and SUVs, has created another bonkers vehicle.

The company’s Hennessey Special Vehicles team, which is responsible for making hypercars, has created the Hennessey Venom F5-M.

It’s based on the Venom F5 with the M representing the car’s manual transmission.

The limited-edition roadster is powered by what the company calls its “Fury” engine, a 6.6-litre twin-turbo V8 that produces 2,031 brake horsepower (bhp), or 2,003 hp.

The car gets a gated six-speed manual transmission, making it the most powerful hypercar in the world with a stick shift.

Only 12 of these hyper roadsters will be made and each of the 12 will be uniquely specified to its clients.

The vehicle will be sold globally, though most will be sold in the United States.

The first production model, shown in these pictures, is going to a customer in the United Kingdom. This car will be shown publicly at the Goodwood Festival of Speed July 9 to 12.

About the car

The Venom F5-M gets a 55-inch dorsal fin that stretches from the roof-mounted air intake to the trailing edge of the rear deck.

Hennessey said this feature improves high-speed aerodynamics.

An integrated roof scoop feeds cool air to the engine bay with air that flows around the sides of the car channeled rearward by the dorsal fin.

To ensure the car can put down its prodigious power, the powertrain is paired with sophisticated traction control and engine management systems, Hennessey said. These systems are intended to deliver power in a precise and linear fashion.

“We’ve always believed the Venom F5 delivers the most intense performance experience on the planet – but with the F5-M, we’ve gone even further,” company founder and CEO John Hennessey said in a news release.

“A gated six-speed manual puts the driver completely in control, while the open-top design brings the Fury V8 sound directly into the cockpit. The noise, the feel, and the power delivery are raw and unfiltered – it’s the most all-consuming driving experience we’ve created.”

The exclusive car is priced at $2.65 million U.S. ($3.77 million Canadian).

Full model details are available on the Hennessey Special Vehicles website.
