Fresh off the recent reveal of the latest Jeep Grand Cherokee, the automaker is bringing back two trims that should appeal to purists and luxury seekers.

The 2027 Grand Cherokee will gain the Trailhawk and Overland trims.

The Trailhawk is intended to be the most capable version of the Grand Cherokee, while the Overland is intended to be a legitimate off-roader while also being comfortable.

“The Grand Cherokee Trailhawk uniquely embodies the go anywhere, do-anything ethos of this brand. It’s an SUV that handles your daily routine and is engineered to be a leader in capability to confidently hold its own off-road with the legendary Trail Rated badge, staying true to the brand’s authentic 4×4 DNA,” Jeep CEO Bob Broderdorf said in a news release.

“For Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland, this model serves a unique purpose in the lineup to combine legitimate off-road capability and premium, refined features that it’s been known for since its introduction 25 years ago.”

More details on the Trailhawk

The Trailhawk features an advanced 4×4 powertrain with innovative suspension technology and a purpose-built design, the automaker said.

It uses a 2-litre turbocharged Hurricane 4 Turbo engine mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission, delivering 324 hp and 332 lb.-ft. of torque.

It has a ground clearance of 28.9 centimetres (11.4 inches) and approach, breakover and departure angles of 36, 24.4, and 30.3 degrees, respectively.

Key features include:

• Quadra-Trac II 4×4 system with two-speed transfer case
• Selec-Terrain traction control system with Rock mode
• Quadra-Lift air suspension system with electronic semi-active damping
• Rear electronic limited-slip differential
• 30.5-inch Goodyear Territory All-Terrain tires
• Integrated TrailCam off-road camera with dynamic tire path and rear camera washer  
• Six high-strength steel skid plates to protect the engine, transmission, transfer case, suspension components and the fuel tank

More details on the Overland

The Overland is a premium off-road model. It features an aggressive front end with bright-coloured tow hooks, 21-inch machine-faced wheels with mid-gloss Granite Crystal pockets, a body-colour painted roof and Silver Silk exterior accents.

On the inside, it picks up Nappa leather upholstery with “Overland” embossed on the front seat backs.

Front seats are heated and ventilated and rear seats are heated.

The cabin features something called “An-Teak,” a Satin Chrome accent with a Liquid Chrome applique tracer.

Key off-road features include:

• Quadra-Trac II with a two-speed transfer case
• Class-exclusive Quadra-Lift air suspension
• Hill-descent Control
• Semi-active damping

The model also gets a standard 360-degree surround view camera with washer.

The Trailhawk and Overland both get Jeep’s Off-Road Pages, which displays real-time vehicle data such as vehicle dynamics, gauges, pitch and roll, Selec-Terrain management and suspension settings.

Canadian availability and pricing

Pricing hasn’t been announced yet.

Both models are expected to arrive at Canadian dealerships later this year.
