The Chinese returned to Germany’s famous Nürburgring Nordschleife race track to eat the Germans’ lunches.

Chinese cellphone maker turned automaker Xiaomi EV claimed the fastest lap time at the 20.8-kilometre circuit by a production SUV.

Driver Vincent Radermecker piloted Xiaomi YU7 GT with Track Package around the Nordschleife circuit in a time of 7:22:755 minutes. That’s nearly 14 seconds faster than the previous SUV lap record, which had been held by the Audi RS Q8 performance, with a time of 7:36.69.

Radermecker set the latest record on April 2, 2026, Nurburgring announced.

The Xiaomi YU7 GT is a dual-motor all-wheel-drive electric SUV with 990 hp.

Previous Xiaomi record at Nordschleife

This isn’t the first time Xiaomi held a Nurburgring track record.

Back in June 2025, the automaker’s SU7 Ultra became the fastest EV and fastest four-door at the track with a time of 7:04.957 minutes.

The record as the fastest EV at the Nordschleife stood only a few months as it was surpassed by the Yangwang U9 Xtreme later that same year.

The record among four-door cars stood until earlier this month, as Porsche surpassed by the Xiaomi and Yangwang records in the electric Taycan Turbo GT with the Weissach Package and the Manthey Kit.
