The world premiere of Sung Kang’s “Drifter” movie will take place at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival in September.
Kang, a Korean-American actor best known for his portrayal of Han in the “Fast and Furious” movie franchise, also writes, directs and produces.
In the case of the upcoming “Drifter” film, he’s co-writer, director and star.
“Can’t wait to share this movie with the world,” Kang said in an Instagram post announcing the upcoming world premiere.
About ‘Drifter’ film
The film is about a racetrack janitor with a secret gift for drifting, who is haunted by a tragic past.
He’s given a chance to compete at a pro drifting event but realizes his gift is nothing without a connection with others.
“Under a hardened mentor, he must learn to trust his found family and transform his untamed, lonely art into a dangerous dance of partnership, or be consumed and controlled by the past he’s desperate to escape,” a synopsis reads.
“Drifter” is an English and Korean-language film running 147 minutes long.

Other auto-related films at TIFF 2026
“Drifter” is not the only auto-related movie showing at this year’s TIFF.
The festival will also screen the world premiere of the French and English-language Canadian film “Villeneuve: The Rise of a Legend,” as well as the world premiere of the Canadian film “The Stunt Driver.”
TIFF will announce its 2026 festival schedule on Aug. 11.
