The Lexus LFA is coming back, and its prototype made its first on-road appearance at the event where the original LFA prototype made its first appearance.
Lexus brought the latest LFA Concept, wrapped in camouflage, to the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the United Kingdom. The festival ran July 9 to 12.
The electric prototype made a surprise at the event’s hill-climb course as the electric car was only scheduled to appear on display.
When the car wasn’t being driven at the Goodwood hill climb, it appeared alongside two other Toyota performance car prototypes, the GR GT and GR GT3.
The three vehicles share technology, except the two GR models utilize gasoline-burning engines while the LFA is purely electric.
The automaker said the LFA Concept presents Lexus’ vision for a next-generation electric sports car, which is said to blend advanced performance with emotional appeal and invokes the spirit of the original LFA.
“This next-generation LFA is a car that provides an immersive experience like no other, imitating nothing else. This sense of immersion was born from the pursuit of a high-level fusion of aerodynamic performance and sculptural beauty. Our focus is emotive performance that evokes ‘immersion’ and ‘lasting resonance,’ creating a truly one-of-a-kind car,” Yukihiro Yukita, project general manager, said in a news release.
