The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has recognized nine more vehicles with its safety awards, including six that received the highest award, the Top Safety Pick+, and three that received the lower tier Top Safety Pick award.

The latest 2025 and 2026 model year vehicles join a growing list of cars, SUVs and pickup trucks to earn the IIHS recognition for 2025.

The IIHS updated its safety awards, and, in order to qualify, vehicles now need to have good ratings in the small overlap front and side tests, an acceptable or good rating in the pedestrian front crash prevention evaluation and acceptable or good ratings for headlights across all trim levels.

An acceptable rating in the moderate overlap front test is enough to qualify for the Top Safety Pick, but a good rating is required to get the plus.

The newly awarded Top Safety Pick+ vehicles are the all-new Audi A5, Audi Q6 Sportback e-tron, BMW X3, Ford Explorer, Hyundai Ioniq 9 and Kia Sportage.

The newly awarded Top Safety Pick winners are the Hyundai Santa Cruz, Nissan Rogue and Toyota Corolla Cross.
