The Ford Mustang’s California Special is coming to the all-electric Mustang Mach-E, but only on the higher-up GT model.
Ford announced it is introducing the Mustang Mach-E GT California Special on the 2026 model.
“There is something about the idea of the California spirit that has always been associated with the Mustang brand,” said Kristen Keenan, colour and materials designer for Ford, in a news release. “And now Mustang Mach-E joins as part of the family.”

California Special history
Ford said California dealers were responsible for a large portion of all Mustang sales in the 1960s.
To commemorate this success, the dealers and Ford collaborated, and in 1968 the original Mustang California Special was launched.
The coupe had red and black accents and aero features. A little more than 4,000 units of the original model were built.
Ford then recreated a California Special with the launch of the seventh-generation Mustang in 2024.
Now, in 2026, the Mustang Mach-E will also have the California Special option available.

California Special exterior elements
The Mach-E wears a colour called Rave Blue that was inspired by California’s coastal blue colours. This colour is also on the two-door Mustang California Special.
The colour is chromatic and goes from light to dark, sometimes even appearing as blue violet.
The Mach-E gets Rave Blue accents on the wheels, grille, exterior badges and interiors, just as the two-door Mustang does. Both versions also have a unique California Special front fascia.
The Mustang Mach-E also gets some unique elements, including 20-inch carbonized grey wheels with a printed GT/CS logo and gloss-black aero wheel covers, an illuminated Rave Blue pony emblem on the grille, and a special hood graphic that was inspired by the California coastline.

California Special interior elements
The blue colour scheme continues on the inside.
The electric SUV’s performance seats get Navy Pier ActiveX and Miko upholstery with a reflective blue and silver stripe.
The centre console and steering wheel get navy ActiveX and the floor mats match the seats’ blue and silver stitching.
