Nissan Canada has announced most of the pricing of the third-generation Leaf electric vehicle, which is arriving for the 2026 model year.

The recently announced Canadian prices are for versions of the electric SUV fitted with the larger 75-kWh battery, while prices for the base model with the 53-kWh battery are yet to be announced.

The 2026 Leaf, with the larger battery, has a starting manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $44,998. With fees and levies included, that puts the 2026 Leaf’s starting selling price at about $47,846.

The new starting MSRP is $3,250 higher than the starting price of the outgoing second-gen Leaf; however, that price gap should be shortened once pricing on the base model are announced.

Starting Canadian prices are as follows:

  • Leaf S+ – $47,846 (MSRP of $44,998 plus fees and levies)
  • Leaf SV+ – $50,846 (MSRP of $47,998 plus fees and levies)
  • Leaf Platinum+ – $55,646 (MSRP of $52,798 plus fees and levies)

Fees and levies may vary by location.

The automaker said pricing on the entry model, the Leaf S, will be announced at a later date.

Power and range

The S+, SV+ and Platinum+ are each equipped with a 75-kWh battery and an electric motor with 216 hp and 261 lb.-ft. of torque.

Estimated range is as follows:

  • Leaf S+ – 488 kilometres
  • Leaf SV+ – 464 kilometres
  • Leaf Platinum+ – 417 kilometres

A North American Charging Standard (NACS) port is standard across the entire range. There’s also a 7.2-kW on-board charger.

The Leaf S, with the smaller battery, has a slightly less powerful electric motor, producing 174 hp and 254 lb.-ft. of torque. An estimated driving range for this version is still be announced.

Design

The third-generation Leaf is more SUV-like than the outgoing version. It features motorized flush door handles, a curving roofline, an available dimming panoramic roof and a spacious interior.

The S and S+ models get dual 12.3-inch displays, while the SV+ and Platinum+ versions get 14.3-inch displays.

“The Leaf helped launch the mainstream EV movement 15 years ago, and Nissan remains committed to making electric driving more accessible to Canadians,” said Brent Smith, director of marketing at Nissan Canada Inc., in a news release “We’ve kept the Leaf’s price accessible through three generations while continuously enhancing its style, technology, and driving range – all with the goal of delivering practical and reliable EVs that meet the needs of everyday Canadian drivers.”
