
It’s getting harder to buy brand-new vehicles that can transport families of six or more without spending a fortune, but there are a few options below 50 grand.
Here’s a list of 2025 model year minivans and SUVs with three rows of seating available in Canada for less than $50,000, including fees and levies.
The following article is neither a review nor a recommendation, it is simply a list of what’s available. Starting advertised price is the manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP), plus fees and levies. Price after tax is what you may expect to pay. Fees, levies and taxes may differ by province. This list is based on Ontario prices. Dealers may set their own prices. Check with your local dealer for an exact price.
The list is in descending order, from most to least expensive.
Chrysler Grand Caravan
Starting advertised price: $49,995
Price after tax: $56,495
It’s as if the folks at Chrysler were determined to get this minivan on our list with a price that’s just a few bucks below our $50,000 threshold. The Grand Caravan (pictured up top) features a V6 engine with start-stop, standard Stow ‘n Go second- and third-row seating and storage, heated front seats and heated leather-wrapped steering wheel, 12-way power driver’s seat including four-way lumbar adjust, the Uconnect 5 multimedia system with a 10.1-inch screen, dual power sliding doors and power liftgate and more.

Nissan Pathfinder
Starting advertised price: $49,985
Price after tax: $56,483
The Nissan Pathfinder just barely squeezes onto this list with a price just under our $50,000 threshold. The Pathfinder is an off-road worthy 4×4 and a spacious family mover with three rows of seating, available in either seven- or eight-seat configurations. If you need to tow something, the Pathfinder can also pull up to 6,000 pounds. Standard features include a 10-way power driver’s seat with two-way power lumbar, intelligent key with push button ignition, approach unlock and walk-away lock, tri-zone automatic temperature control, ProPilot Assist, which includes steer assist and intelligent cruise control, Nissan Connect featuring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and a host of safety features, and more.

Subaru Ascent

The Ascent is a midsize SUV with seating for seven or eight passengers, depending on the trim chosen. With the Subaru, you get symmetrical full-time all-wheel drive and standard X-Mode to improve traction in various road or off-road conditions, along with EyeSight driver assist technology with automatic emergency steering, lane centring assist and reverse automatic braking and LED steering response headlights with high beam assist. Mazda CX-90

The CX-90 features eight seats in base configuration. It’s powered by an inline-six turbocharged engine with mild hybrid technology. Kia’s minivan, which the company calls a “life utility vehicle,” comes standard with a host of safety features, including blind-spot collision avoidance assist, forward collision-avoidance assist, front and rear parking sensors, and more. Seating for eight is standard, while the minivan is available with optional second-row captain’s seats, in which case you’d have room for seven. A hybrid powertrain is available as well.

Kia Sorento
Starting advertised price: $41,830
Price after tax: $47,410
The Kia Sorento comes standard with a seven-seat configuration, while all upgraded trims go down to six, as the middle row gets a more comfortable pilot seats setup. All trims feature smart key with push button start and parking distance warning, smart cruise control with stop and go, blind-spot collision avoidance assist, a power driver seat with two-way lumbar support and Kia Connect. The Sorento can also be had as a hybrid or plug-in hybrid.

Mitsubishi Outlander
Starting advertised price: $38,394
Price after tax: $44,153
Mitsubishi’s three-row SUV received a face lift in 2025. The compact SUV has seating for seven people and standard all-wheel drive along with 11 airbags. In base trim, you get a Yamaha sound system, drive mode selector, 18-inch alloy wheels, frameless auto-dimming rear-view mirror, automatic climate control, and a host of standard safety features.
