BMW Group Canada announced updates and pricing for the 2 Series coupe for the 2025 model year, as well as updates and pricing for the M2 speed machine.
The new 2 Series, including the M2, is launching worldwide in August 2024, and is being built at the BMW Group plant in San Luis Potosi, Mexico.
230i and M240i details
First, let’s look at the highlights of the 2 Series.
For the Canadian market, the non-M version of the car is available in two trims, 230i xDrive and M240i xDrive.
Canadian base MSRP pricing:
- 2025 BMW 230i xDrive: $49,300
- 2025 BMW M240i xDrive: $59,700
The base MSRP doesn’t include fees, levies or taxes.
The 2 Series is available in a two-door style and for 2025 receives new paint finishes, alloy wheels, steering wheels and interior trim and upholstery choices.

The car now also comes with the new BMW iDrive with QuickSelect system based on the BMW OS 8.5.
A curved display features a 12.3-inch information display and a 14.9-inch control display. Functions such as climate control, seat heating, steering wheel heating (if fitted) can be controlled via touchscreen or voice command.
The 230i comes standard with a new two-spoke wheel with a polygonal rim. There’s an available new M leather steering wheel, which is standard on the M240i, which features a flat bottom, redesigned spokes and a red centre marker at the 12 o’clock position as well as contrast stitching in the BMW M tricolour.
BMW says the interior of the car offers an ideal layout for an exhilarating driving experience.
“The rear roof line, the high centre console, and the harmoniously blended surfaces of the instrument panel and door panels create an atmosphere of both intimacy and space,” a news release says.
An available M Sport package features M Shadowline headlights, an M rear spoiler in black, and black exterior contents. The package also includes M Sport brakes (standard on M240i models) with red calipers.
New 19-inch alloy wheel designs are also available
Both models come with all-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission.
The 230i is powered by a 2-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 255 hp, while the M240i is powered by a 3-litre turbocharged inline-six with 382 hp.
BMW says the 230i will accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds, while the M240i will do it in 4.3 seconds.
M2 details

The M2 receives many of the same design updates as the non-M cars, but let’s skip straight ahead to what’s under the hood.
For 2025, the M2 gets a 20-hp power bump, so now the twin-turbo six-cylinder inline engine packs 473 hp.
Another major difference between the M and non-M cars is that the M2 is available with a six-speed manual transmission and rear-wheel drive, which BMW points out is unique in the segment. An eight-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic is standard equipment while the manual is a no-charge option. The manual also features the gear shift assistant, which uses rev-matching to ensure slip-free operation when downshifting.

The car’s maximum torque with the manual gearbox is 406 lb.-ft. between 2,650 and 6,130 rpm. With the automatic, torque rises to 443 lb.-ft. between 2,700 and 5,620 rpm.
BMW says zero to 100 km/h sprint times are as follows:
- Manual: 4.2 seconds
- Automatic: 4 seconds
On the inside, the car benefits from the same BMW OS 8.5 system, an optional head-up display, and an M leather steering wheel and M Sport seats. The seats, which feature Vernasca leather, can be ordered in black with a red highlight.
Also, weight-saving M Carbon bucket seats are available as a standalone option. These feature Merino leather, electric adjustment and heating, removable head restraints, and facilitate for adding a multi-point harness, and are said to optimize all-day comfort and support during sporty driving.
The base MSRP in Canada for the M2 is $78,300. Fees, levies and taxes are extra.

BMW recently announced updates for its 3 Series and 4 Series cars as well.
