The Volkswagen ID.4 is being discontinued in North America – for now, at least.
The automaker announced it is ending production of the electric SUV at its assembly plant in Chattanooga, Tennessee, which is where the vehicle was produced for the Canadian and United States markets. Production is ending this month (April 2026).
Volkswagen Canada told this publication there is remaining stock available in Canada. How long it lasts depends on demand.
Volkswagen said the ID.4 is being taken out of production to make way for the newly launched second-generation Atlas, as part of a plan to focus on higher volume models.
The automaker said it plans a future version of the ID.4 for the North American market, but details of the upcoming EV haven’t been provided.
Full model information on the current ID.4 is available VW Canada website.
The news of the current ID.4’s discontinuation comes after the company announced its other EV, the ID. Buzz, will take a gap year in 2026 with the intention of returning in 2027.
