Subaru has launched a limited-edition version of the WRX compact sports sedan, which follows a similar treatment previously announced for the BRZ coupe.

Subaru Canada revealed the 2026 WRX 雷 Kaminari Edition at the 2026 Vancouver Auto Show.

The special-edition car is limited to just 150 units in Canada. The previously announced 2026 BRZ 雷 Kaminari Edition, by the way, is limited to 50 cars in Canada.

What is the 2026 WRX Kaminari Edition?

The WRX 雷 Kaminari Edition is based on the top-of-the-line WRX tS trim.

The Kaminari pops in a unique yellow colour. On the outside, the car wears an exclusive Sunrise Yellow paint and has a high-profile lip spoiler finished in gloss black.

The car rides on split 10-spoke, 19-inch aluminum alloy wheels finished in matte black. The car also has a unique grille to differentiate it from other cars.

Yellow elements make their way to the inside of the car, including yellow accents on the Recaro bucket seats. There is also yellow accent stitching throughout the cabin.

Powertrain

The car maintains the same powertrain of the WRX tS, including a turbocharged 2.4-litre boxer engine with 271 hp, symmetrical full-time all-wheel drive, and a six-speed manual transmission.

The car also has Brembo high-performance brakes and a suspension with tS performance-tuned adaptive electronic dampers for increased driving dynamics compared to non-tS WRX cars.

The car has a starting manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $49,995.

The estimated starting Canadian prices of the entire 2026 Subaru WRX lineup are as follows:

• Sport – $41,256 (MSRP of $38,595 plus fees and levies)
• Sport-tech – $46,256 (MSRP of $43,595)
• GT – $49,656 (MSRP of $46,995)
• tS – $51,052 (MSRP of $48,395)
• Kaminari Edition – $52,652 (MSRP of $49,995)
