Lexus’ flagship sedan, the one that launched the brand with a champagne-glass commercial in 1989, is finally being retired.

And Canadians who want to own one of the last few Lexus LS sedans that will be sold in this country may want to act soon as the online configurator for the final year of the car has opened on the Lexus Canada website.

Only five will be sold in Canada.

The sedan is available in just a single grade in Canada, as the 2026 Lexus LS 500 AWD Heritage Edition.

The price, as it appears on the Lexus Canada website, is listed at $136,236, which includes a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $126,800, plus fees, levies and luxury tax. Luxury tax is applied to light-duty vehicles that cost more than $100,000.

What’s unique about the LS Heritage Edition?

The Heritage Edition car is available in just one colour, Ninety Noir, which is a first for Lexus, and a Rioja Red interior, which is a first for the LS.

It car rides on 20-inch, split-20-spoke alloy wheels with a dark grey metallic finish. The wheels incorporate noise-reduction technology.

The interior gets an etched Lexus LS Heritage Edition emblem on the centre console, which features a silhouette of the car. This design also appears on the headrests.

The premium wood trim gets a new special laser black pattern.

Each of the final five cars get a panorama glass roof.

Additionally, Lexus fitted each car with a panoramic view monitor for enhanced visibility and safety.

Other features include heated rear seats, a power lift-up buckle, and a Mark Levinson 23-speaker, 2,400-watt Reference Surround Sound system with QuantumLogic Immersion, as well as the Advanced Park feature.

The LS 500 is powered by a twin-turbo 3.4-litre V6 engine producing 416 hp and 442 lb.-ft. of torque mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive is standard.

Lexus said the car will accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds.
