Porsche has launched a new Cayenne Electric variant, the third model in the electric SUV’s lineup.

The automaker unveiled the Cayenne S Electric, which slots in above the previously launched base model and below the Turbo model. Based on Porsche’s propensity for developing different versions of a vehicle model, we can expect more Cayenne Electric models to come.

What is the Cayenne S Electric?

The new Cayenne S Electric model has an all-wheel-drive electric powertrain with 536 hp, which increases up to 657 hp with Launch Control.

That gives it 222 hp more than the base model.

Porsche said the SUV can launch from zero to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds in Launch Control.

The top speed is 250 km/h.

The S model gets the same high-voltage battery with a capacity of 113 kWh as the previously announced models. It offers fast charging capability at up to 400 kW, which Porsche said can recharge the battery from 10 to 80 per cent in as little as 16 minutes.

Continuous load and efficiency

The S model takes a trick from the top-of-the-line Turbo model by using direct oil cooling for the rear-axle electric motor.

Porsche said this helps heat dissipate directly from the current-carrying components for high continuous load and efficiency.

Unique S features

The Cayenne S Electric gets its own front and rear fascia in a Volcano Grey Metallic colour and inserts and diffuser painted in the SUV’s body colour.

It rides on 20-inch Cayenne S Aero wheels.

Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus) is optional and gives the electric SUV more precise driving dynamics, Porsche said.

Other options include the Porsche Active Ride suspension for improved body movement, Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake system, and Sport Chrono Package.

A built-in Track mode pre-conditions the battery for maximum performance on the track.

The Cayenne S is available in 13 exterior colours and several interior and accent packages.

Interior Style Package

The SUV introduces a new Interior Style Package, which is now available across the entire Cayenne EV lineup.

The package consists of a colour and material scheme that is co-ordinated with the exterior Mystic Green Metallic colour.

It features a two-tone leather upholstery with Black and Delgada Green colours, on the door trims and on the 14-way adjustable Comfort Seats. The seat belts also maintain the theme.

The package also includes decorative stitching and an embroidered outline of the Porsche crest on the headrests.

The package also includes aluminum decorative trim in Izabal Green, a GT sport steering wheel trimmed in black leather with a 12 o’clock marking and cross stitching in Delgada Green, plus other unique elements in Izabal Green and Delgada Green colours.
