A new Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe is on its way and the automaker is letting us peer inside before showing us the outside.

Mercedes-Benz unveiled the interior of the upcoming four-door sports car.

The interior was developed in house at AMG’s headquarters in Affalterbach, Germany. The company said it worked to create the most direct possible interaction between driver and machine.

Mercedes-Benz didn’t provide powertrain details, but this one appears to be fully electric.

Highlights of interior

The car has a low seating position, typical of a sports car.

Mercedes-Benz said the centre console is a highlight of the interior. It contains three driving dynamics rotary controls, which allow the drivers to adjust the response, slip and cornering behaviour in an instant.

The Response Control dial controls the response of the car’s electric motors the the accelerator pedal commands.

The Agility Control dial changes the car’s agility setting around the vertical axis, which impacts its cornering behaviour.

The Traction Control dial controls slip, which influences how much the car intervenes when slip is detected. There are nine traction stages.

Vehicle dynamics are controlled via the AMG Race Engineer control unit, which manages hardware components and software functions.

The front seats are said to offer high lateral support, while the car will also have optional AMG Performance seats.

An AMG Performance steering wheel, with a flat-bottom design, features roller and rocker switches. The steering wheel can be optioned with a variety of materials, including supple leather, carbon fibre and non-slip Micocut microfibre.

Screens

As is typical of recently unveiled Mercedes vehicles, the forthcoming GT 4-Door loads up on screens.

The driver’s instrument cluster, measuring 10.2 inches, and the multimedia display, measuring 14 inches, are combined into a seamless single unit. The multimedia screen is angled toward the driver.

The front passenger gets a 14-inch display.

The car’s user interfaces feature the Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX), which run on the Mercedes-Benz Operating System (MB.OS).

It provides a software-to-cloud architecture to control vehicle functions.

The roof can also provide a lighting display with illuminated AMG emblems, or to light up racing strikes across the length of the roof.

The heat-insulated, laminated safety glass roof features an infrared-reflective coating to protect occupants from the sun’s rays.
