Hyundai has updated its Ioniq 6 for the 2026 model year.
Unfortunately, Canadians won’t get the updated electric sedan yet.
Hyundai Canada confirmed to this blog the Ioniq 6 won’t be available here for the 2026 model year, but will make a return for 2027.
“We are excited to confirm that the refreshed Ioniq 6 will be coming to Canada, introduced as a 2027 model-year,” a company spokesperson said via email.
“This approach reflects Hyundai’s commitment to advancing electric mobility and continuing to lead with Canada’s most-awarded EV lineup. We look forward to sharing more details on what’s new closer to launch.”
The Ioniq 6 was launched in 2022 with a retro-futuristic design.
The automaker updated the car for 2026, giving it a slightly more contemporary design while retaining its curvy shape.
While the Ioniq 6 is taking a gap year in Canada, it is being discontinued in the United States; however, Hyundai America will bring to market the sporty Ioniq 6 N, which features a dual-motor powertrain with 641 hp.

Ioniq 6 N on way
While the Ioniq 6 N is intended for Canada as well – it was even displayed at this year’s Canadian International AutoShow in Toronto – Canadian market launch details have not been provided.
Hyundai Canada, for the time being, still has available units for purchase of 2025 Ioniq 6s.
More details on the current Ioniq 6 are available on the company’s website.
