Tesla is planning to discontinue its two flagship models.
The company announced production of the Model S and Model X will wind down in the second quarter of this year.
“If you’d like to own one of them, now’s a good time to place your order,” the company said in a post on X.
Production of the two vehicles is ending because the company plans to use the production capacity to make its Optimus line of humanoid robots.
About the Model S and X
The Model S electric sedan helped launch the Tesla brand when it debuted in 2012, while the Model X electric SUV came a few years after in 2015.
In more recent years, the company launched the slightly smaller and much more affordable Model 3 sedan and Model Y SUV, both of which proved to be hot sellers for the company.
The Model S has a starting manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $139,990 in Canada, which comes to about $151,158 with fees, levies and luxury tax includes.
The Model X has a starting MSRP of $149,990, which takes it to about $163,158 with fees, levies and luxury tax.
Full model details are available on the Tesla website.
