On the same day that Volvo unveiled the EX60 electric SUV, the automaker also previewed the upcoming EX60 Cross Country.

The Canadian launch timing of the EX60 Cross Country been provided.

The Cross Country variant takes the EX60 and gives it some off-road features and visual elements.

It will ride on wheels exclusive to Cross Country models, and will have Cross Country branding in several visible places.

It will also have skid plates with brushed stainless steel at the front and back as well as rugged wheel arches.

The Cross Country will ride 20 millmetres higher off the ground than the regular EX60. An air suspension will also be able to increase ride height by another 20 millimetres, if needed. The air suspension can also lower the vehicle, which Volvo said can help improve efficiency when driving on the highway.

“The EX60 Cross Country is the EX60 for anyone with a ‘go anywhere’ attitude,” said Erik Severinson, Volvo’s chief commercial officer, in a news release.“Built to do more and see more, the EX60 Cross Country embodies not only the sense of exploration but also a reflection of achievement. We basically invented this segment and we felt the EX60 was the perfect next Volvo to get the Cross Country treatment.”

More details will be announced at a future date.
