Just a few months after Ford announced the Mustang RTR, the automaker has given us the Bronco RTR.

Ford created this version of the Bronco SUV in collaboration with RTR Vehicles and Loren Healy, two-time King of the Hammers champion. The RTR is launching for the 2027 model year.

Ford said the Bronco RTR was created to offer the kind of high-speed desert performance typically only available on the Stroppe and Raptor trims, but at a lower price.

The Bronco RTR comes in a four-door body style and is powered by Ford’s 2.3-litre EcoBoost engine. It’s the smallest of the Bronco engines, making the RTR lighter up front than versions with larger engines.

The engine was given the Bronco Raptor’s 1,000-watt cooling fan and upgraded with a software-operated, race-derived anti-lag system, which Ford said gives the SUV instant thrust.

The RTR rides on a high-clearance suspension and standard 33-inch tires.

Buyers who opt for the Sasquatch package will also get a HOSS 3.0 suspension and FOX internal bypass dampers. Normally, these features are only available on the more expensive Badlands trim.

The RTR also gets a unique grille with signature lighting, Bronco RTR-specific Evo 6 wheels and heritage-inspired wheel arches.

“Bronco has great racing heritage to take inspiration from, and Raptor has blazed a trail in high-speed off-roading that customers love. We kept those things in mind with Bronco RTR,” Healy said.

“But we know that some performance enthusiasts can’t necessarily afford a Bronco Raptor. That was our brief developing Bronco RTR: Find a sweet spot for high-speed off-road performance and make it a great value for thrill-seeking Bronco owners. It sits in a really unique place in the Bronco lineup.”
