General Motors says the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X is the quickest American production car available and it has the stats to prove it.

The automaker posted the supercar’s performance numbers from a drag strip and the numbers are spectacular, and not just spectacular at the ZR1X’s price point, but among all cars, including multi-million-dollar exotics.

The most impressive numbers were recorded on a prepped surface, but the times recorded on an unprepped surface are impressive.

What is a prepped surface?

A prepped drag strip includes a section that has been prepared with a special traction compound to create maximum grip, giving cars faster launches versus a “no prep” track.

Corvette ZR1X stats on prepped surface

GM provided performance numbers from a run on a prepped track.

They include:

  • Zero to 60 mph (96 km/h) – 1.68 seconds
  • Quarter-mile – 8.675 seconds
  • Trap speed – 159 mph
  • Peak acceleration force – 1.75G

The run was conducted in October 2025 at US 131 Motorsports Park.

The car used pump gas (what you can buy at the gas station) and rode on standard-equipment tires (Michelin PS4S). It has the ZR1X’s standard aero configuration and avaialble carbon fibre wheels.

GM said test driver Stefan Frick ran the car multiple times and managed multiple quarter-mile runs in less than 8.8 seconds.

“When we made the revolutionary shift to a mid-engine platform, this is the type of performance we knew was possible,” GM president Mark Reuss said in a news release.

Corvette ZR1X stats on street surface

GM also provided the car’s performance numbers from a run on a drag strip with “no prep,” also known as street surface.

They include:

  • Zero to 60 mph – 1.89 seconds
  • Quarter-mile – 8.99 seconds

This was achieved with a ZR1X equipped with an available ZTK Performance Package.

How the Corvettes stack up

All versions of the Corvette provided impressive performance numbers. GM posted zero to 60 mph stats for the various versions of the eighth-gen ‘Vette.

They include:

  • Stingray with available Z51 Performance Package – 2.9 seconds
  • Z06 with available Z07 Performance Package – 2.6 seconds
  • E-Ray with available ZER Performance Package – 2.5 seconds
  • ZR1 with available ZTK Performance Package – 2.3 seconds
  • ZR1X with available ZTK Performance Package – 1.89 seconds

The ZR1X, which is all-new for 2026, has a plug-in hybrid powertrain with a total 1,250-hp power output.

It has a starting Canadian price of $315,960.
