Mitsubishi has taken the wraps off its updated Outlander PHEV.
The plug-in hybrid three-row compact SUV received a mid-cycle refresh for the 2026 model year and was unveiled in Montreal, Que. on Tuesday, Jan. 13.
The refresh brings more standard premium and comfort features, and an improvement to the powertrain.

Powertrain update
As reported by this blog a few weeks ago, Natural Resources Canada sort of spoiled the big powertrain reveal by releasing fuel-economy figures, but as a reminder we’ll go over the details again.
The SUV retains the same 2.4-litre engine from before, but gets a larger battery, which results in better electric-only, hybrid and gasoline-only efficiency.
Updated figures are as follows:
- All-electric range – 72 kilometres (improvement from 61 km)
- Electric and gasoline fuel consumption – 3.2 Le/100 km (improvement from 3.6 Le/100 km)
- Gasoline-only fuel consumption (city/highway/combined) – 8.6/8.6/8.6 L/100 km (improvement from 9.2/8.7/9.0 L/100 km)

Mitsubishi said the 2026 Outlander PHEV now has a combined electric and gasoline driving range of 690 kilometres, which is higher than what NRCan reported, and an improvement from 2025.
The company said the updated powertrain also gives the Outlander PHEV more electric power, thus improving acceleration.

Interior updates
On the inside, the SUV gets a new centre console design, new seat materials and colour options, the inclusion of a Yamaha sound system, which is said to be a significant audio upgrade, and a new 12.3-inch infotainment display. The driver display was updated with new graphics.
These new features are standard on all trims.

Canadian market details
Mitsubishi Motor Sales of Canada said full pricing details will be announced soon, but the manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) will start at $50,498, an increase of $2,200 over the 2025 version. The MSRP doesn’t include various fees and levies, which add a few thousand dollars to the purchase price.
All versions sold in Canada feature Mitsubishi’s All-Wheel Control system and a suite of advanced driver assistance systems.
The updates to the Outlander PHEV follow similar updates to the ICE version of the Outlander, which saw more comfort features added in 2025 and received a new mild-hybrid powertrain for 2026.
The 2026 Outlander PHEV will go on sale in Canada in February. For updates, visit the Mitsubishi Canada website.
