Tesla has introduced a significantly cheaper version of its Model Y compact electric SUV in Canada.
As observed by the folks at the Drive Tesla Canada publication, the automaker quietly added the new Model Y Standard on its Canadian website Thursday, Jan. 8.
The Model Y Standard is $15,000 cheaper than the Premium tim, the next model up.
The 2026 Tesla Model Y Standard has a starting manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $49,990, which comes to about $52,632 once various fees and levies are tacked on.
The Model Y Standard gets a single-motor rear-wheel-drive powertrain with an estimated range of 463 kilometres, a top speed of 201 km/h and a zero to 100 km/h acceleration time of 7.2 seconds.
If you want full self-drive (with driver supervision), it adds another $11,000 to the vehicle’s selling price. You can also get this feature via monthly subscription instead.
Full model details are available on Tesla’s website.
