Nissan is discontinuing its smallest and largest sedans as well as its smallest SUV available in Canada.

Nissan Canada told this blog the Versa and Altima sedans and the Kicks Play SUV will no longer be available in Canada following the 2025 model year.

“Nissan continues to refresh its lineup with the upcoming introduction of new or updated models, as well as electrified powertrains,” a Nissan Canada spokesperson said via email.

“With exciting new models arriving soon, such as the all-new Sentra, the new Leaf, and the Rogue plug-in hybrid, we remain committed to offering a product range that meets customers’ evolving needs while maintaining our competitive edge.”

Remaining availability of the disappearing vehicles varies by each dealer’s local stock.

About the three vehicles

With a starting MSRP of less than $21,000, the Versa subcompact car was the cheapest new car in Canada for the 2025 model year.

The Altima became Nissan’s largest sedan offered in Canada when the Maxima was discontinued at the end of 2023. And, with a starting MSRP of less than $32,000, it also happened to be Canada’s cheapest midsize sedan in 2025.

The Kicks Play only got to play in Canada for one model year. The subcompact SUV was originally the Kicks, but when Nissan launched a second-generation Kicks in 2025, it let the outgoing model kick around for another model year, but it was renamed the Kicks Play. With a starting MSRP of less than $23,000 it was one of the least expensive new vehicles you could buy as well.

What’s next?

In a year-end sales report for 2025, Nissan Canada president Steve Rhind said 2026 will see the return of the Pathfinder, Murano and Frontier in the company’s Canadian lineup – the three U.S.-made vehicles were pulled from the lineup due to Canada’s counter-tariffs on vehicles assembled in the United States.

The year will also see the new Rogue PHEV, as mentioned above, as well as the introduction of the next-gen Rogue with e-Power hybrid technology.

“These launches, along with an expanded range of electrified vehicles, will redefine the wide choices we strive to provide for our customers,” Rhind said in a news release.
